Adobe Flash CS3 - Creating Keyboard Shortcuts
Introduction
This lesson is part of a series that will give you a comprehensive guide on how to use Flash CS3. Best of all, all of the tutorials are free for you to read and learn from. I'll do all the hard work, so you don't have to.
This particular lesson is on how to take advantage of Flash's powerful keyboard shortcut management system. Becoming familiar with keyboard shortcuts will improve your work efficiency and keep your stress levels down.
Create a Keyboard Shortcut Set
- Click either Flash (Mac) or Edit (Win) menu, and then click Keyboard Shortcuts.
- Click the Current Set popup menu, and then select a set.
- Click on the Current Set button.
- Enter a name for the new shortcut set.
- Select OK.
Tip: You can delete a custom keyboard shortcut set, but you can not delete the built-in shortcut sets. Just select the custom keyboard shortcut set and push the delete button to the right of the menu.
There is also a rename button that you can use to rename your custom made shortcut sets.
Add or Remove a Keyboard Shortcut
- Click either Flash (Mac) or Edit (Win) menu, and then click Keyboard Shortcuts.
- Click the Current Set popup, and then select the set in which you want to change.
- Click the Commands popup, and then select a shortcut category, such as "Drawing Menu Commands".
- Select the shortcut command that you want to add or remove a shortcut in the Commands list.
- Either click the Add Shortcut (+) button to enter in a new shortcut, or click Remove Shortcut (-) button to remove a shortcut.
- Click Change.
- Follow steps 2-6 to add or remove more shortcuts.
- Click OK.
Tip: You can also export your shortcuts to HTML. This allows you to be able to print them out and hang them in a convenient location! Select Keyboard Shortcuts, then Current Set popup, select the set you want, click the Export Set As HTML button, enter a file name, specify a location, and then Save!
